4 Products That You May Not Have Thought of For Your Dental Office

Posted

Trying to do the monthly supplies shop can often feel like such a burden for the vast majority of us. I know from personal experience that I try and do the shop as fast as possible, which not only results in higher costs because I don’t shop around, but also, I miss out on new products that are listed for sale that may improve the level of care that I offer. With this in mind, we thought we would recommend a few of the latest products listed on GPSDent that you may not have previously considered.

JetPolisher 2000

You may be looking for a better air polisher and they don’t come much better than the Jetpolisher 2000. This air polisher has the ease of use of a handheld Prophy polisher but isn’t tiring to use, and you will notice that no clogging takes place. When I tried out the Jetpolisher, I noticed straight away that it was easy to use and more importantly maintain, whilst providing excellent results in terms of patient care.

The unit itself is portable, but this doesn’t mean it loses some of the features that you may expect from a conventional counter-based polisher. It can produce prophys in around half the time it takes for hand scaling alone – it’s that good. You will also notice that it is priced at a fraction of the price of the industry favorites, so it is certainly worth taking a look at this JetPolisher.

Some of the features include:

  • The nozzle doesn’t clog due to exclusive H.S.T. technology (patented Homogenous Stream Technology (H.S.T.) ™). This is a system that mixes sodium bicarbonate with air and water, which then produces one stream, unlike other systems where there are separate nozzles. You will certainly notice the difference!
  • Doesn’t affect titanium implants.
  • You don’t need to install the Jetpolisher and the unit itself is completely portable. The dimensions of the unit are 3.5” x 3.5” x 7.5”.
  • Uses existing dental unit’s foot pedal.
  • Lightweight to use for a prolonged period of time, with limited wrist fatigue.
  • The Jetpolisher comes with a 2-year warranty, so if you had any problems with the unit, contact the manufacturers and they will likely be able to offer a repair or replacement if you did have any problems.

When I used the Jetpolisher, I noticed that I was able to offer a gentler and softer polishing action because of the sodium bicarbonate particles, which are able to soften in the spray head prior to application. This makes patients more relaxed.

Jetsonic 2000M Ultrasonic Scaler & Polisher

If you are on the lookout for a combined scaler and polisher, why not give the Jetsonic 2000M Ultrasonic Scaler & Polisher a go.

This is actually the first ultrasonic scaler/air polisher that accepts both 25K & 30K inserts. You will have probably noticed that other manufacturers tend to sell 25/30K scalers without polisher combinations. Sometimes these combination scaler/polishers only accept 30K inserts. This combo scaler and polisher really saves time and money, as well as making treatments more efficient. The unit itself works on the latest sensor technology and has the uncanny ability to identify what the dentist is doing when your remove the handpiece from its holder with no manual switching.

The Jetsonic 2000M comes with a unique “power surge mode”. This is where the footswitch revs up the power without the dentist having to stop treatment in either mode. This unit is also priced at $1k less than some of the more well-known brands, yet offers better features.

Other features include:

  • The Jetsonic comes with patented digital circuitry, that is able to automatically tune any “stack-type” insert, whether this is 25k or 30k.
  • There is an advanced microchip feedback system installed, which helps with maintaining the optimum scaling power for all settings of the device.
  • The Power-Surge Mode is able to increase power by 15-20%, which can be done with a simple “double-click” on the foot switch, which helps with the removal of the hardest of deposits. You can then return to the setting you had prior to the “power surge mode” when you release the foot control.
  • Each unit comes with a standard 2-year warranty. Make sure all expensive equipment that you buy, no matter what it is, comes with some form of warranty to protect you from any reduction in the quality of the technology.

LED Dental Curing Light w/Built in Caries Detector

Next up, we have the LED Dental Curing Light w/Built in Caries Detector. This is one of the best curing lights that is for sale at the moment. It takes just three seconds to cure resin composite, and the light itself offers six different modes for operation, low, ramp, standard, high, plaque inspect, and caries inspect. The light also has an integrated radiometer, which many users will find very useful. There is no chance of overheating, as the light has built in heat management tools to prevent this from happening.

MirrorLite Illuminated Mouth Mirror

This is a great tool to replace an existing mouth mirror. The MirrorLite Illuminated Mouth Mirror is coated in hard wearing titanium. This prevents the MirrorLite from any form of corrosion or tarnishing. It is perfect for helping to diagnose oral conditions and has been known to be used in oral cancer exams, as well as restorative dentistry, air abrasion and trans-illumination procedures. This means it is certainly fit for purpose.

When I used it as a replacement for my mouth mirror, it lead to less strain in my back, as well as my eyes, so it can also improve the user’s health as well, which is to be welcomed. The mirror makes use of LED light, and this subsequently allows you to see in true color. What’s more, the Mirrorlite can be used in an autoclave after patient use, so it is easy to clean and maintain, which is vitally important.
